Warning over rising humidity in UAE

By Yahoo! Maktoob
DUBAI - Humidity in the western coastal areas of the UAE reached 100 percent - the highest level so far in the year - on Wednesday, local daily Gulf News reported citing a forecaster.

The same level of humidity is also expected on Thursday along with high temperature, making conditions uncomfortable, the daily quoted a source from the meteorological office as saying.

According to the meteorological office, the discomfort index has gone up to six on a scale of one to ten. It becomes very uncomfortable if the index rises above four, the report said.

"Evenings are no more pleasant in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and other coastal cities due to the high humidity," the paper quoted the forecaster as saying.

"We still see an increase in humidity, particularly in the coastal areas," he added.

High levels of humidity could cause severe health problems if proper care is not taken.
